When life deals you a bad hand, you might find you need a little help. It happens to all of us at one point or another.
In those dark moments, all hope seems lost. So when a hand reaches out from the darkness to lift a downtrodden person into the light, it can mean the world.
At RE-TML, we extend helping hands to people experiencing homelessness and life in transition in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Our organization was founded by Esther Bonegre Benton, an MBA major, and entrepreneur who asked her husband Russell and their three children a simple question: How can our family live out love in action in our community?
Together, they decided that there is no better place to start than by seeking a city’s most hard-pressed people and providing simple and loving support to help them back on their feet. These are folks who may have lost everything. They might be people struggling to overcome addiction. They might be surviving trauma or abuse. They might be families who have lost everything for one financial reason or another.
The Benton family felt that the best way to model the living love of their faith was to reach out to these folks and show them kindness, empathy, and support. The name of the organization, RE-TML, refers to the Benton family unit and each of their first initials. Their idea in choosing this name was to show the power a family has when it comes together to solve real problems by extending their helping hands out to people in need.
At RE-TML, our goal is to take folks in need into our transitional home, feed and clothe them, tend to their emotional wounds, and provide them with support resources that show them a permanent way out of the dark and lonely experience of homelessness. Our ultimate mission is to help the residents of our transitional housing move from being completely homeless to getting back on their feet by empowering them to support themselves through employment training, personal finance workshops, and much more.
This is an all-hands-in movement. Our many hands can lighten the burden of people beaten down by life. We are lifting people up and helping them move forward fueled by God’s healing love. Join u
Our vision is to see an end to the problem of homelessness when the compassionate people of a community come together in love to support one another through good times and bad.
